Happy birthday, Ulrike! May your year be filled with discoveries big and small, may you continue to be curious, insightful and find joy in the ordinary and extraordinary, whatever that may be or look like. I’m excited to hear and see what words you have to share.

Life can, and should, be lived in a variety of ways, and it’s with words like yours that reenforce that notion and give comfort, making life so much more the richer!

I think a lot about loneliness - and the many guises it takes. Thanks for sharing your feelings. Society expects so much of us, in its narrow sets of definitions defined by goodness knows who! Our life circumstances change, and new set of societal expectations comes along with it. it’s never ending. Soon as we can figure out how to liberate ourselves from it the better! Let me know when you figure out how!

Lonliness is so rarely talked about. I saw a NY Times piece recently where people of all ages talked about loneliness and it reminded me how incredibly common that feeling is. It's strange how we're all torn apart by these strange expectations and yes, who did ever set them. And you're so right, the sooner we can liberate ourselves from them, the better and then we can share how we did it, so others can follow.

Thank you Steph! Haha I'm glad I make a pond of ice sound enticing but I'm sure a lido or ponds in Hampstead would also be lovely this time of year and maybe not as cold
